About

Creating southern inspired home decor is a passion of mine, especially when it's reclaimed wood. Anyone can go buy lumber at a big box store but the experience of taking down an old building is filled with stories, sweat, and many splinters and pokes coupled with incredible inspiration and a piece of Texas 'history' that is truly remarkable.

Why 'Cowgirl Utopia'?? Well it's really quite simple if you know me on a personal level... cowgirl + utopia = Cowgirl Utopia! Now my definition of cowgirl and yours may be a little different- but to me a cowgirl is more of an attitude really, a proud girl with an independent spirit who knows that the days that end with the dirtiest clothes are the most memorable. A cowgirl faces life head on, lives by her own lights, makes no excuses and stands up for the family name and everything she believes in. A cowgirl knows that hard work is the best way to get what you want but also that southern charm does wonders on a soul and fresh sweet tea keeps company coming back. Utopia is defined as a state in which everything is perfect, but like the cowgirl definition; I have my own- it is not a claim that I nor my life is perfect... far from it actually. One of my favorite quotes states that "Happiness doesn't mean everything is perfect, it means you have decided to look beyond the imperfections" and I whole-heartedly stand beside that. Those days that come so rare and are held so dear in which the sun is shining bright in the beautiful Texas sky and there is not a worry on the brain, that is my state of perfection. When I can drive around the countryside with someone I love riding shotgun and Cody Johnson Band blaring through the speakers, that is my state of happiness. When I two-step my cares away in a honky tonk with my husband, wake up with my baby girl, start the day with a glass of sweet tea in a mason jar, see my dad smiling in my dreams, or camp under the stars- those are the little moments that I can hold on to that carry me to the next one no matter what age I am, what season it is, or how many times I've done it or seen it. That's my utopia, and this is an attempt to materialize those moments and create things I love that are inspired by my loved ones, farm life, and good ole southern hospitality. Thank you for supporting my dream!
